Quinnipiac hires Silver to be Abelson chair

Sara Silver

Quinnipiac University has hired Sara Silver as the first Alan Abelson Endowed Professor of Business Journalism/Financial Communication.

She will also start on Aug. 16.

Silver has been lecturing at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she is an adjunct, and conducting training sessions at many newsrooms including The Washington Post.

Her career includes reporting at The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and The Associated Press.

At the Journal, Silver covered telecommunications companies including Motorola and BlackBerry. At the FT, she was based in Mexico City and covered energy, trade, politics, monopoly power and culture under Mexico’s first democratically elected government in generations.

She spent seven years at the AP in both Mexico City and New York.

Silver will be building the new financial communications program. We have a minor in conjunction with the School of Business that we hope to launch shortly after her arrival.
