Quartz’s Lichfield named editor of MIT Tech Review

Gideon Lichfield

Gideon Lichfield, a senior editor at business news site Quartz, has been named editor in chief of the MIT Technology Review.

He starts in early December.

Lichfield will oversee all of the Review’s editorial content and products, including the website, digital newsletters, print magazine, and live events, as well as new platforms and formats under development.

Lichfield joined Quartz’s founding team in 2012 as global news editor. Before Quartz, Lichfield worked for 16 years as a journalist at The Economist, including postings in Mexico City, Moscow, and Jerusalem.

“Gideon is a seasoned journalist with the vision, creativity, and industry-leading digital expertise we sought in filling this vital role,” said Elizabeth Bramson-Boudreau, CEO and publisher of MIT Technology Review, in a statement.

MIT Technology Review was founded in 1899.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
