Quartz makes three new editorial hires

Quartz editor in chief Kevin Delaney announced three new editorial hires on Friday morning:

Youyou Zhou is joining the Things team as a visual journalist based in New York, starting May 30. Youyou (pronounced Yo-yo) previously worked at the Associated Press, where she was an interactive news producer with award-winning interactive stories covering the 2016 US elections and the Venezuela crisis. Before that, Youyou was a designer at a Washington, DC, data visualization studio. Youyou designs, writes code and stories, and sometimes makes drawings and Chinese seals. She is an active member of the data journalism scene in China and speaks Mandarin. Youyou has a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Missouri, and you can follow her @zhoyoyo.

Sushma UN has joined Quartz India as a reporter based in Chennai covering clean energy, retail, and startups. Sushma is a sociologist-turned-business journalist, and a Columbia Journalism School alum. She’s been a journalist for nearly five years now, and has covered pretty much all aspects of business news during stints at the Hindu Business Line, the Times of India, and Dow Jones’ MarketWatch. Sushma is also a Bharanatyam dancer, coffee addict, and a proud Chennai-vaasi. She speaks Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi and you can follow her @sushmaun.

McKinley Noble joins Quartz as a writer for the app, based in San Francisco starting May 30. He was most recently a proofreader at GoPro, and has also spent time with Yahoo and BusinessWire, and has written about sports and tech for Bleacher Report and IDG. McKinley is a news junkie with two phones and three monitors, and has a bachelor’s in journalism from San Francisco State University. You can follow him @KenTheGreat1.
