She will start her new job — Quartz’s first San Francisco-based tech reporter — in December and report to tech editor Dan Frommer. Truong had been with Fast Company since July 2013.
She previously was a special contributor for USA Today, writing a tech column and hosting an online gadgets show.
Prior to moving to San Francisco, Truong reported in Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City and Hong Kong where she worked as a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal. She has written about a number of subjects, including technology, real estate, politics and personal finance.
Truong graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University with two degrees: a master’s in business reporting and interactive storytelling, and a bachelor’s in print/online reporting and political science.
