QuartzQuartz editor in chief Kevin Delaney sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Hello Quartz—

I’m happy to announce three new members of our editorial team.

April Siese joins Quartz today as an app writer, based in New Orleans. She will have a special focus on developing our weekend app writing. April comes to us from the Daily Dot, where she was most recently weekend editor. She’s also written for Rolling Stone, Bustle, Curbed, Sports Illustrated, and the Daily Beast. April went to school in San Francisco, where she majored in illustration, and speaks French. You can follow her @ayetalian and meet her in NYC, where she’s spending this week.

Arielle Ray is joining Quartz as a video journalist in New York, starting Jan. 3. She comes to us from the Wall Street Journal, where she’s been producing animated videos. Her striking animations have explained the hip hop history of Hamilton’s raps, how end-to-end encryption works, and natural food coloring, among others. The Journal sent her around the world to train colleagues in graphics and animation, and she was recognized as a Top 30 Under 30 for general excellence by the Newspaper Association of America. Arielle has a bachelor’s in visual journalism and English literature from the University of Miami. You can follow her @arielle_designs

Abdi Latif Dahir joins Quartz as a writer in Nairobi in January, after a successful internship in New York. During his time here he covered stories ranging from Ethiopia’s political protests to Somali book festivals to a real-life Coming to America story, and plenty in between. Abdi has a master’s in journalism and politics from Columbia University. Before that he worked in Nairobi as a reporter and blogger for several years. Abdi is a Kenyan citizen and speaks Arabic, Somali, and Kiswahili. You can follow him @Lattif

Please join me in welcoming them.
