Pulitzer winner Gilbert leaving WSJ for Seattle Times

Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Gilbert, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2010, is leaving the paper for a reporting job at the Seattle Times.

Gilbert confirmed the move in an email to Talking Biz News, but referred all other questions to the Seattle daily.

Gilbert previously was a staff writer at the Bristol Herald Courier in Bristol, Va., from December 2007 through 2010. The newspaper won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and several other national journalism awards, for Gilbert’s series exposing flaws in Virginia’s system of administering natural-gas royalties.

Before that, Gilbert worked as a freelance writer in the U.S. Southwest, Mexico, and in Washington, D.C., for English and Spanish-language news outlets, including El Tiempo Latino, Reuters and the Christian Science Monitor.

He graduated from the University of Chicago in 2005 with a B.A. in international studies. He is fluent in Spanish and French and has experience in computer-assisted reporting.

At the Journal, Gilbert has been based out of Houston and has been covering energy companies.
