Puget Sound Business Journal Publisher Emily Parkhurst announced Friday that she will leave her role to pursue a leadership opportunity with an early-stage startup.

A story on the Business Journal website states, “The former editor-in-chief was named publisher in October 2018 after leading the newsroom for more than two years. Prior to that, she had served as managing editor and as a technology reporter.

“Before coming to Seattle, Parkhurst was an education and government reporter in her home state of Maine. She won the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Sigma Delta Chi award for investigative reporting in 2010. She also taught English and communication at several Maine colleges.

“During her time as the PSBJ’s editor, the publication won numerous national awards, including the SPJ Sigma Delta Chi award for public service journalism for its comprehensive Price of Homelessness reporting and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) award for real estate reporting.”
