Puget Sound Business Journal editor Emily Parkhurst has been promoted to publisher and market president of the American City Business Journals paper.

A story on its website states, “Parkhurst has served as PSBJ’s editor-in-chief for more than two years and as managing editor for two years prior to that. She has been with the company nearly seven years, starting out covering technology.

“During her time as the PSBJ’s editor, the publication won numerous national awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Sigma Delta Chi award for public service journalism for its comprehensive Price of Homelessness reporting, and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) award for real estate reporting. This year, ACBJ editors voted Puget Sound Business Journal the company’s top publication with its General Excellence award.

“Parkhurst will succeed Emory Thomas Jr., who, as previously announced, has accepted a Seattle-based executive role in the company overseeing Puget Sound as well as multiple other city markets in the American City Business Journals publication chain of 43 different titles across the country. The Business Journal will begin the search for Parkhurst’s replacement as editor-in-chief immediately.”
