Tech news site Protocol has hired Nick Statt to cover the video game industry.
He will start later this month.
“It’s a beat I’ve been passionate about for most of the last decade and I am psyched to dive into it full time,” he wrote on Twitter.
He is currently at The Verge as a New York-based reporter and news editor covering gaming, apps, and antitrust. He has been with The Verge since September 2015.
Statt previously spent two years at CNET covering breaking technology stories for CNET.com’s news vertical. He wrote breaking news of Nike’s FuelBand shutdown and an investigation into the realities of the perceived tech industry skill gap.
