Prairie Biz editor Killion retires

Rick Killion, the editor of Prairie Business magazine, which covers Minnesota and the Dakotas, is retiring from the publication after 10 years.

He is being replaced by Alan Van Ormer.

Van Ormer writes, “I’m sure it is going to be tough on Rick to let something go that he has prided himself on over the years. I will especially miss him. He has been a mentor to me, but more than that he has been a good friend to my wife and I over the past 10 years.

“As Prairie Business magazine moves into the future we will continue to be your source for business news in this region. Starting in October, and for each month after that, an additional eight pages will focus specifically on energy. The remaining content will not change. There will still be articles focusing on our monthly themes, a community profile and company profile. However, these eight pages will allow Prairie Business magazine to be the source to know more about the booming energy world.

“This additional content will examine the importance of energy in our three-state region, as well as demonstrate how the energy industry is connected, display all the tremendous opportunities in a diverse field, and explain how energy conservation is part of the equation. This special section will be the go-to source for information on how this billion dollar industry plays a role in our diverse economy. In the first issue, watch for an update on the oil industry, as well as a new wind energy farm being constructed in South Dakota, and a discussion on the importance of water and energy.”
