Robert Powell, the editor of Virginia Business magazine, is retiring once a replacement is found.
Powell has been editor of the Richmond-based magazine for nearly 15 years.
“I’ll step down as editor when my successor is hired,” said Powell. “The plan for me to stay on part-time as an adviser during a transition period.”
Before joining the magazine, Powell was with The Richmond News Leader and Richmond Times-Dispatch for 20 years as a business writer and associate business editor.
His first journalism job, in 1976, was with The Blackshear Times, a Georgia weekly whose motto is: “Like by many, cussed by some, read by them all.”
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Richmond and a bachelor’s degree in English from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
