The Portland Business Journal is changing the way it edits its content.
Managing editor Matthew Kish, who previously edited about half of the content, has returned to reporting after a three-year stint in the position. He will not be replaced.
“Liked it, but nothing compares to working a beat,” Kish said to Talking Biz News in an e-mail. “Primarily, I’m covering banks now. I’m also helping out with coverage of public companies, especially Nike.”
Previously, Editor Rob Smith and Kish shared administrative tasks such as compiling calendar listings, briefs, People on the Move announcements, etc. The paper didn’t have a copy editor.
Now, the paper has hired a copy editor, Gretchen Holzgang, to edit that content and stories. She came from Portland Monthly magazine.
This will free up Smith to focus on editing more, said Kish.
