Wendy Culverwell, the real estate editor of the Portland Business Journal, writes about the weekly business newspaper’s Real Estate Daily, which launched one year ago.
Culverwell writes, “We’ve sent 252 emails containing more than 1,200 local news items — some long, most short — to more than 10,000 daily readers. As of Tuesday, Real Estate Daily had racked up nearly 1.7 million page views.
“It’s been a wild ride.
“I confess I was skeptical when the publisher first announced his plan for a daily email focused entirely on real estate.
“Would there be enough news to fill the four local slots every day? How in the world would it all come together by about 9:30 in the morning in order to be ready for the 11 a.m. blast?
“To be fair, there have been some thin days.
“Who knew so many firms issue so many reports on the state of the residential market? God bless you CoreLogic, Realty Trac, CaseShiller, Zillow and all the others.
“But more often that not, the commercial real estate world has come through with news, the occasional column (thank you Coni Rathbone, Vanessa Sturgeon and Jeff Myhre!) and sponsorship dollars. For that, our thanks.”
