Portfolio hires reporter from LA Times

February 16, 2007

Meanwhile, Keith Kelly of the New York Post is also reporting that the upcoming Conde Nast Portfolio biz magazine has hired a top Los Angeles Times’ reporter away to cover Hollywood and the adult entertainment industry.

The reporter is Claire Hoffman, who is known for being attacked by the “Girls Gone Wild” founder. In addition, Kelly writes that author Tom Wolfe will also be writing an article for the premiere issue, as will former New York Times business writer Kurt Eichenwald.

Kelly wrote, “And finally, another Portfolio name writer, Kurt Eichenwald, who wrote ‘Conspiracy of Fools’ about the Enron debacle while an investigative reporter at the New York Times, just optioned the book to Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way production company, which has a production deal with Warner Brothers.

“Eichenwald is expected to snag a seven-figure payday – but only if the movie is actually made. Until then he’ll have an estimated low six-figure advance.

“Meanwhile, he is also in the starting lineup for an article in the debut issue of Portfolio. ‘I’m writing something,’ he said. ‘Whether they publish it is up to them.'”
