New business magazine Conde Nast Portfolio has hired Doug Frantz, the former managing editor of the Los Angeles Times, to be a senior writer for the magazine and be based in Washington, according to a release.
“Mr. Franz began his career at The Albuquerque Tribune where he was city editor from 1975 to 1978. He then joined The Chicago Tribune as an investigative reporter in Chicago and Washington.
“Mr. Frantz is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, a two-time winner of the Worth Bingham Prize for investigative reporting, and a recipient of the Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting. His ninth book, The Nuclear Jihadist, will be published in December. Written with his wife, Catherine Collins, the book is an account of how A. Q. Khan, the Pakistani scientist, spread nuclear weapons technology to Pakistan, Libya, North Korea, and Iran, and how the United States government failed to stop him.”
