Politico’s Maldonado hires by The City

Samantha Maldonado

Politico energy and environmental reporter Samantha Maldonado has been hired by The City, a nonprofit newsroom in New York.

She will start on April 5 and focus on election coverage.

Maldonado has been with Politico for two years, and before that was a reporter, global news intern, at The Associated Press. She has also served as a City Hall editorial intern at Politico.

She has also worked as a freelance copy editor and was a freelance reporter/writer contributing to publications including City Limits, Next City, Eater, Al Jazeera English, Plan Philly, and Harvard Magazine, among others.

She was also a media intern at WNYC Radio and a breaking news intern at CNN. She has also worked as a social media marketing assistant at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, and was a communications and production coordinator at Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation.

Maldonado is a B.A. in sociology and creative writing from Wesleyan University and a M.A. in urban reporting from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
