Politico taps Kine as D.C.-based China correspondent

Phelim Kine

Phelim Kine has joined Politico as a D.C.-based China correspondent.

In his new role, Kine will be producing Politico’s weekly China Watcher column/newsletter while covering other China-related enterprise stories.

Previously, he was senior director Asia at Mighty Earth/Waxman Strategies at Team Waxman/StandMighty.

He has also taught at Hunter College and was with Human Rights Watch for over 11 years, serving as China researcher and then as deputy director of Asia division.

Kine was also China correspondent and then Jakarta bureau chief at Dow Jones Newswires. He was also features editor and then managing editor at Phnom Penh Post.

Kine graduated from Carleton University.
