Politico hires two health care reporters

Politico editor in chief Carrie Budoff Brown and Politico Pro editor Marty Kady sent out the following announcement:

Morning all,

We have several exciting Pro reporter hires to announce as we bolster our Pro Health Care team and round out our mid-term coverage for Campaign Pro.

Sarah Owermohle joins the health care team, teaming up with Sarah Karlin-Smith to track the hot and getting hotter pharma beat. Sarah O. comes to us from S&P Global Market Intelligence, where she covered the drug and biotech industries. Before that she reported from both Beirut and Dubai, mostly on business and finance. She attended the College of William and Mary. She grew up partly in Northern Virginia, so this is a homecoming. She starts July 10.

Rachel Roubein will join Politico’s health care team from The Hill, where she covered health policy and politics. Earlier in her career she was a health care reporter for National Journal. She began covering health care for Carroll County Times, a local newspaper in rural Maryland, and quickly fell in love with the beat. She attended the University of Maryland and is a big Terps basketball fan. A newlywed, she accepted our job offer while on her honeymoon in Greece. She joins Politico in early August.

Zach Montellaro is joining the Pro Campaign team next week and will be the author of Morning Score. He’s been with POLITICO for just over two years, and has been the Playbook producer and a co-author and the afternoon Playbook newsletter for about a year and a third. Zach is a graduate of George Washington University, and the latest in a long line of former Hatchet reporters to join Politico. In his free time, he likes to complain about the New York Mets, the worst professional sports team in the nation.
