Matei Rosca has joined Politico this week as a financial services reporter, based in London.
Matei specializes in investigative stories on financial crime, corruption and money laundering, and his work has appeared in Private Eye, the Guardian and elsewhere. He spent the past three years as banking correspondent for S&P Global Market Intelligence in London.
A native of Romania, Rosca has held some interesting nonjournalism jobs.
He got my first job at age 14 in his uncle’s sawmill in Romania. He has also been an advertising copywriter at an Indian agency in London and was briefly a barman in the George Tavern on London’s Commercial Road where Chaucer, Charles Dickens and Pete Doherty drank.
He was also part of the stage crew for the Danish legs of Beyoncé and The Eagles tours.
