Politico hires health care, employment and ag reporters, and copy editor

Politico Pro editor Marty Kady sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:

Morning all!

Catching up on a few recent hires in our reporting ranks, we’re thrilled to announce the following:

Alice Ollstein joins the Health Care team on Sept 4. Alice caught our eye with her sharp Hill reporting for TPM. She’s also written for numerous outlets including The Atlantic and been a regular on the “What the Health” podcast. A graduate of Oberlin, she’s a native Californian.

Rebecca Rainey started with the Employment and Immigration on Tuesday, where she will take over newsletter writing duties from Ted Hesson, who will now devote himself exclusively to immigration coverage (a big story, we hear!). Rebecca comes to us from Inside OSHA, where she recently broke the story of Brett Kavanaugh’s controversial dissent in a case—featured in the documentary “Blackfish”—in which a Sea World employee was injured fatally by a killer whale.

Ryan McCrimmon will be joining us as an Ag reporter and newsletter writer next week. Ryan is a Congressional Reporter at CQ, where is has covered many policy issues such as budget/appropriations, taxes, health care spending and other topics. Before joining CQ three years ago, he interned at the Texas Tribune and was a Paul Miller Reporting Fellow through the National Press Foundation. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he reported on Big Ten college sports (for fun and for work).

Graph Massara joined the ProWeb team as copy editor this week, trekking all the way from California. He most recently worked at both SFGate as an editorial assistant and Newsela, an instructional content platform that supercharges reading engagement and learning for children, as a copy editor and writer. Graph is a 2016 graduate of Berkeley.

Please welcome our newest additions to the Pro family!
