Politico hires education reporter, taps editor for pharma coverage

Marty Kady, the editor of Politico Pro, sent out the following staff announcement:

Good afternoon everyone!

We have two exciting staff announcements for Pro.

First, former USA Today reporter Nicole Gaudiano will join our education team, covering K-12 policy, reporting to Jane Norman. Nicole spent the last 13 years covering Congress and politics for the USA Today/Gannett Washington Bureau, moving from regional to national beats. Some recent assignments included federal gun policy, Democratic politics and Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. She also covered Joe Biden as a senator, presidential candidate and vice president. She previously wrote for Air Force Times, The Record in New Jersey, and The (Annapolis) Capital. She grew up in New Jersey and Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She loves hiking, travel and learning to play guitar. She lives in Arlington, Va., with her husband and 6-year-old daughter.

Second, we have an exciting internal move to announce: Arthur Allen, who was the founding editor of the Pro eHealth vertical, will be moving within the health team to edit and write for our expanding pharmaceutical coverage. Art brings a writerly touch to technical stories, and a deep understanding of health policy and health technology. His move will be formalized in the coming weeks as we blend our eHealth coverage into the larger Pro Health Care team and expand our pharma coverage.

Thank you!
