Politico hires Crain’s New York real estate reporter Anuta

Joe Anuta, who covers residential real estate for Crain’s New York Business, has been hired by Politico.

His last day at Crain’s, where he spent more than five years covering real estate and economic development. will be Friday. He starts at Politico Tuesday and will be covering the New York City Council and broader City Hall dynamics.

Before joining Crain’s, he covered politics, crime and development in Queens for the TimesLedger for three years.

Anuta grew up on a farm in Indiana, graduated from Pennsylvania State University and lived abroad before landing in New York City.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
