Politico Pro editor Marty Kady sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Good morning everyone,

POLITICO has spent the past several years strengthening our ability to bring sharp policy and legislative analysis to our subscribers, and also aggressively expanding our coverage of state capitals and Canada. We have an exciting move to announce today that advances both of those goals: Liz Crampton, who has spent the past three years on the agriculture policy team, will be taking on a new position covering state policy and legislative trends across the country. In addition, Julia Arciga will be joining us from Law360 to cover federal legislation.

This expansion not only represents POLITICO’s ambitions in providing state legislative coverage beyond the four states where we have operations, it’s something Pro subscribers have been asking us to cover. Many Pro subscribers not only have to track federal legislation, but state bills that affect their professional lives. That’s where Liz’s new gig comes into play. She’ll expand our states presence by following policy trends throughout the country, connecting the dots on what’s happening on a local level for a national audience. She’ll also spearhead state-level bill analysis for the legislative compass, identifying and breaking down bills of interest to our premium subscribers. Liz will also pay special attention to state-level trends in agriculture, where she brings years of expertise.

Liz grew up in North Carolina and attended UNC-Chapel Hill. She previously worked for Bloomberg BNA and MLex, where she covered antitrust. In her free time, she cheers for the Tar Heels and recently learned to knit as a pandemic hobby. A childhood wall ball injury left her with a forearm that can now predict inclement weather (yes, she won the 4th grade wall ball match). Liz will report to Ryan Hutchins, and also work closely with Peter King, who reports to Marty, on Legislative Compass needs.

On the federal side of our Legislative Compass. Julia will join the team today as a reporter covering a wide range of issues on Capitol Hill, writing bill analyses and helping helm our popular Day Ahead newsletter. She’ll primarily cover cybersecurity, defense, energy, health care, technology and transportation.

Julia joins POLITICO from Law360, where her reporting covered appellate matters, competition and telecommunications. She has covered ongoing legal disputes involving large technology platforms, Section 230 reform and national security concerns surrounding foreign telecommunications companies operating in the U.S. Before that, she worked at The Daily Beast as a breaking news reporter. She’s also held internships throughout D.C. newsrooms — including CNN and NBC News.

Originally from Los Angeles, Arciga attended The George Washington University and majored in political science. She enjoys knitting, running and making Bolognese. Her pandemic past-times include learning Korean and how to play chess. She starts on March 1.

Julia fills the hole left by Eleanor Mueller, who is completing more than two years on the Legislative Compass team and recently joined the economics team. Eleanor has for some time basically done two jobs – churning out Pro Bill Analysis pieces for our premium subscribers and writing Day Ahead while also regularly writing about labor and issues for our economics policy team.

Please welcome Julia as she lands at Politico and congratulate Liz (and Eleanor) on their new roles.
