We’re thrilled to announce two additions to our powerhouse health care crew to extend POLITICO’s dominance in covering the Food and Drug Administration:
Lauren Gardner joins the team after covering U.S.-Canada relations for several years, breaking numerous stories on cross-border policy developments and chronicling how little time a former Trump ambassador to Canada actually spent in her post country. Lauren joined POLITICO in 2015 as a transportation policy reporter, where she delivered scoops on a federal rail official moonlighting as a PR consultant and tracked high-profile policy moves around trains, cars and planes.
Katherine Foley joins the POLITICO newsroom today from Quartz, where she covered health and science issues for the past six years. Katherine holds a master’s in journalism from NYU’s Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program (SHERP 33) and an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where she studied science, tech and international affairs. She’s a co-leader of the free fitness group November Project DC, and the co-owner of a very grumpy tortoiseshell cat.
David Lim, who joined us to cover the FDA at the start of 2020 (just in time for an earth-shaking pandemic), will grab the reins of our Prescription Pulse newsletter along with Lauren. They’ll take over from Sarah Owermohle, who recently moved into a new role covering the wider Biden administration Covid-19 response and co-authoring our POLITICO Pulse newsletter with Adam Cancryn.
Our new FDA trio – David, Lauren and Katherine – will report to Lauren Morello. Please join us in congratulating them on their new roles.
