James Politi has been named the world trade editor for the Financial Times and will be moving to its Washington bureau in August.
Politi is currently the Rome bureau chief.
He replaces Shawn Donnan, who left the FT for a job at Bloomberg News as a senior reporter.
Politi received an undergraduate degree in international politics at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington. He moved to London in 1999 to specialize in international relations with a masters degree at the London School of Economics.
After the fellowship, Politi entered the graduate trainee program of The Financial Times. and has worked in London, Washington and New York for the paper.
