Photo editor leaving Wall Street Journal

Jack Van Antwerp, the director of photography at The Wall Street Journal for the past seven years, is leaving the paper.

In an email to the staff on Friday, Van Antwerp wrote:

Today is my last day at The Wall Street Journal. It’s been an epic seven years and a great privilege to have worked with so many of you.

I am immensely proud of our photo department staff, 23 of the hardest working, most talented group of photography professionals you will find anywhere. I can’t thank them enough in our work to build the best photo department in the business. The Journal is fortunate to have them and their daily contribution to the news organization is profound.

I’m venturing out into the land of startups. I will miss working with the most talented journalists on Earth, but am exhilarated at the new challenges with this new venture. I hope our paths cross often.

With warm regards and thanks,

Jack

Van Antwerp was previously a photo editor at the New York Times and also worked at CNN.
