Don Henninger, publisher of the Phoenix Business Journal for the past 13 years, announced Wednesday that he intends to retire.
Angela Gonzales of the paper writes, “He will stay with the PBJ until his successor is selected.
“‘This decision did not come lightly. I value my tenure at the Business Journal, and I deeply respect my colleagues,’ Henninger said. ‘At this juncture, though, I am fulfilling my own desire to spread my wings.’
“Henninger has spent 17 years with American City Business Journals, the PBJ’s parent company.
“‘Don’s contributions will be missed, both by the Business Journal in Phoenix and by ACBJ as a whole. He has guided Phoenix through times that have been rewarding and marked by great success, and he showed incredible leadership and character on the toughest of days,’ said ACBJ President and CEO Whitney Shaw, who was in Phoenix for Henninger’s announcement.
“‘Throughout his time with the Business Journal, he’s been a focused advocate for the people who work for him — and no greater compliment can be offered about a publisher,’ Shaw said.”
