Philadelphia Business Journal editor resigns for chamber job

Bernard Dagenais, who has been editor of the Philadelphia Business Journal since 2002, has resigned to become president and CEO of the Main Line Chamber of Commerce effective Aug. 9.

A story on the paper’s site states, “Dagenais, a Vermont native who came to Philadelphia from Washington, D.C., said the opportunity to work directly with businesses to help them grow as part of the 89-year-old chamber was a major attraction.

“‘The Main Line Chamber of Commerce is a storied organization on solid footing that is looking to bring its service to members to the next level,’ Dagenais said. ‘I’m excited about taking on that role. We’ll be learning from the best chambers out there, while testing out a few ideas of our own. Chambers are the original social network with a business application, and members could use their shared knowledge and connections now more than ever.’

“Dagenais’ tenure at the Business Journal has been marked by an expansion of daily online news coverage, a renewed focus on business issues in government and journalistic awards that have included two Newspaper of the Year designations from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, along with repeat national Best in Business Awards accolades from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.”
