Personal finance journalist Barrett promoted at Acorns

Jennifer Barrett has been promoted to chief education officer at Acorns, where she was formerly vice president of editorial.

The promotion comes just three months after the successful launch of Grow magazine, where she remains at the helm as founding editor and editor in chief. Grow is the first digital publication to educate, entertain and inspire millennials who want to be financially successful.

Barrett built Grow’s audience by publishing exclusive original content with how-to advice, first-hand features and Q&As with experts (venture capitalist Ashton Kutcher, Vanguard founder John Bogle), plus secured syndication partnerships with outlets including Business Insider and Forbes. In this newly created role, Barrett will create  and lead programs that meet the growing demand for better financial literacy among millennials.

An award-winning financial journalist, Barrett brings more than 15 years of print and digital media experience to her role, having previously served as personal finance editor for CNBC Digital. She was previously senior vice president and editor-in-chief at DailyWorth, a financial media company serving women.

Prior to DailyWorth, she was general manager of the Women & Teens Group at Hearst Digital, overseeing the Cosmopolitan, Redbook and Seventeen sites. Barrett is the co-author of two personal finance books and has covered financial topics for publications including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Worth, Money and Newsweek, where she was a writer and editor for seven years.
