Pellegrini joins Globe and Mail biz desk

Christina Pellegrini, a business reporter for the Financial Post in Canada for the past 15 months, has been hired by the Toronto Globe and Mail to cover business.

At the Financial Post, Pellegrini had been covering capital markets and investing.

At the Globe and Mail, she will be part of its Streetwise team, according to business editor Paul Waldie.

“The Streetwise crew (Tim Kiladze, Jacqueline Nelson, Jeff Jones, Niall McGee, Sean Silcoff, led by Aron Yeomanson) is a key part of Report on Business,” said Waldie in a note to the staff. “They have made Streetwise the go to place in Canada for Bay Street news, insights and moves. Christina will focus on the legal world, uncovering the main dealmakers and getting inside Canada’s most powerful law firms.”

She also worked for Bloomberg News in its Toronto bureau, reporting on the Canadian telecom sector amid speculation that a fourth national carrier will emerge to compete against incumbents and John Chen’s efforts to turnaround BlackBerry.

Pellegrini has a business degree from York University and a master’s in journalism from Ryerson University.
