Paste ends business news section

Paste Magazine, which launched a business news section on its website back in December, is now closing that section.

In an email sent to freelancers, editor Jacob Weindling wrote:

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately Paste is getting rid of some sections, and that includes business, and we are shifting our model to focus more on staff writers creating content than relying as much on freelancers, so I will not be accepting any more pitches. If you have already sent me a completed story, it will still go up, and you can bill Paste for the full $100, but for those of you whose pitches I have cleared, but not received, unfortunately there will be nowhere to publish them once it’s ready. Everything that I have on hand I will publish this week and next, but come next Friday, this section will be gone.

Thank you so much for your hard work, and I’m bummed that we didn’t have a longer leash to work with, but unfortunately that’s just the way life goes in this industry. You have all been terrific, and I have the utmost confidence that you will find other outlets to take your work, and if you need someone to vouch for you, you can absolutely reach out to me for that. And as always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Best,

Jacob
