Christopher Ortiz has been promoted to managing editor of Albuquerque Business First, an American City Business Journals publication.
He replaces Damon Scott, who has been hired as editor of the Taos News.
Publisher Candace Beeke writes, “Ortiz joined ABF a couple months ago as assistant managing editor and has already made his mark on our online content and our Morning Edition newsletter. With his innovative approach to storytelling and keen knowledge of Albuquerque, Ortiz was exactly the right fit to fill our newly opened managing editor position.”
Ortiz is a graduate of Colorado State University. He worked as a crime and courts reporter at the Salinas Californian and as a business reporter for Fort Collins Now. He also covered education for the Greeley Tribune and as a staff writer for the Rio Rancho Observer.
In January 2013, he co-founded NewsCastic, a marketplace where journalists can sell stories.
