Orlando Biz Journal hires new real estate reporter

Jack Witthaus

Jack Witthaus has joined the newsroom at Orlando Business Journal, where he will cover commercial real estate and development.

Prior to joining the paper, Witthaus was a money and innovation reporter at sister paper Houston Business Journal, where he covered tech and health care startups, along with banking and other financial news.

He is a 2016 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. While in college he interned at the Columbia Daily Tribune and St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“Because real estate is a critical beat for any Florida paper, Jack is a welcomed addition to the staff,” said Orlando Biz Journal editor Cindy Barth. “I feel confident he will continue to build upon our tradition of exclusive commercial real estate coverage.”

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
