Janelle Polcyn has been hired by The News-Review in Roseburg, Oregon, as its newest business reporter, replacing Emily Hoard who resigned to pursue personal interests.
A story on its website states, “Prior to Roseburg, Polcyn interned at the San Antonio Express-News where she covered education and general assignments.
“‘I kind of made my own beat,’ Polcyn said. ‘There wasn’t a lot to cover in education over the summer with three other reporters, so I covered a lot of refugee feature stories and spot coverage events.’
“‘I just had a gut feeling about her,’ News Editor Mike Henneke said. ‘Just a phone call and I knew she would be a good addition to the team.'”
