Nycz-Conner leaving Washington Biz Journal

Jen Nycz-Connor

Jen Nycz-Conner, editor at large and a columnist at the Washington Business Journal, is leaving the American City Business Journals paper after 13-and-a-half years.

Nycz-Conner has accepted a position at Hilton Hotels & Resorts to be director of brand communications. The job will focus on finding stories to tell from across Hilton’s 14 brands, including its loyalty program.

On LinkedIn, Nycz-Conner wrote:

I have loved – LOVED – my time here for so many reasons, but at the very top of that list are the people who have come through here, who have so often have become friends and family. The Washington Business Journal is an incredible place, and one to which I will be forever grateful.

At the Business Journal, Nycz-Conner has been a reporter, senior projects producer and assistant managing editor for video. She has also been a morning anchor on WTOP for “Money News” with the Washington Business Journal.

She previously was executive director of the nonprofit Women in Film & Video.

Nycz-Conner holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
