NY Times redesigns Sunday biz section, renames daily section Business

The New York Times’s Business Day section will be named Business beginning on Monday.

The section will have increased coverage of technology in the U.S. and internationally.

The Times will also debut a redesigned Sunday Business section on Sunday, featuring a new visual identity and several new columns and features anchored by Sunday Business editor Nick Summers.

A selection of new columns and features include:

  • Meanwhile,” a new illustrated feature by the graphic journalist Wendy McNaughton, that focuses on overlooked objects, unknown individuals and secret trends in the economy;
  • With Interest,” a weekly Sunday newsletter highlighting the most important news about technology, companies, markets and more. “With Interest” will feature three essential items from the past week, plus three that are in store for the week ahead and will also run in the print version of Sunday Business;
  • Work Friend,” a new column offering practical, tactical advice about the office, money, careers, and work-life balance. The column’s author changes every quarter; first up is Choire Sicha, The Times’s Styles editor;
  • Like A Boss,” a new interview series, that takes the form of a workweek diary from a rising talent in a creative field. It runs bi-weekly, alternating with “Corner Office,” a series of interviews with CEOs, which expands to a full page.

Sunday Business will include narrative reporting, an emphasis on intimate profiles, and more visual storytelling. The section will also showcase relevant coverage from other Times desks, such as Smarter Living and The Upshot.
