NY Times’ Niemi headed to Bloomberg View

Dan Niemi, an editor for the Dealbook section of the New York Times is leaving to become an editor at Bloomberg View.

Here is the note from Times business editor Dean Murphy:

We’re sorry to report that Dan Niemi will be leaving The Times to become an editor at Bloomberg View.

There will be a toast to Dan on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the 2nd floor in Bizday.

For the past two years, Dan has been a vital member of the DealBook backfield, working closely with reporters like Mary Williams Walsh to untangle the most complex finance subjects (think Puerto Rico debt, public pensions and actuarial standards). Before that, Dan spent eight years as BizDay’s Day Editor.

In all, Dan has spent more than 18 years on BizDay, coming here from the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky. We will miss Dan’s deft editing hands, relentless work ethic, and deep business knowledge, but also his collegiality and unflappable demeanor. We wish him the best of luck.
