NY Times hires WSJ reporter Epstein

Reid Epstein

Wall Street Journal reporter Reid Epstein has been hired by The New York Times and will join its politics desk.

At The Journal, Epstein he covered the 2016 presidential campaign and then Democratic politics in the age of Trump. He has covered national politics for a decade, with scoops ranging from Mitt Romney’s car elevator to key elements of Ben Carson’s autobiography that never happened.

He most recently he deeply reported stories about Beto O’Rourke’s extensive history with Texas Republican donors and the preferences of Iowa Democratic county chairs for a young 2020 nominee who would represent generational change.

Before joining the Journal, Epstein reported for Politico, where he covered Barack Obama’s White House and the 2012 campaign. He covered New York politics and the 2008 campaign for Newsday and wrote about local news for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Epstein began his journalism career delivering The Peoria Journal Star at age 12.
