New York Times business editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following announcement to the staff:
We are pleased to announce that Ella Koeze will be joining us as a graphics/multimedia editor in the Business section.
Ella comes to us from FiveThirtyEight, where for the past few years she has produced some of the site’s sharpest (and at times whimsical) data-driven and visual stories.
Ben Casselman, who previously worked with Ella, said she’s a smart, creative and practical editor who improves every project she touches. “Ella had a reputation at FiveThirtyEight for being the person to go to when you had a great idea but you had no idea how to make it work,” he said.
Ella grew up in Michigan, holds a master’s in cartography and geographic information systems from the University of Wisconsin and has a peanut butter named after her. She is an avid fan of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” which she has covered, multiple times.
She starts on Monday, March 9. Join us in welcoming her.
