Morning everyone — we have an exciting staff announcement for the Pro editing ranks.

Pradnya Joshi, or P.J. Joshi, as most people know her, will join us at the end of this month as the Agriculture and Trade editor. P.J. comes to us from The New York Times, where she is assistant business editor for digital news. She has worked for The New York Times for 10 years, in positions including news editor for DealBook, a vertical focused on Wall Street and mergers; deputy night editor during the 2008 financial crisis and ensuing recession; and staff editor.

Before turning to editing, P.J. was a reporter for 12 years, starting out at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel/The Milwaukee Journal. She has also been a reporter at Newsday, where she was a reporter for nine years on various metro and business beats including Wall Street, corporate fraud, New York state politics, and telecommunications.

She graduated with a master’s in journalism and a bachelor’s in journalism and international studies from Northwestern University. She was born in India and was raised in various parts of the United States and the world including Brazil, the Philippines, York, Pa., Texas and Washington State.
