Richard Wilner, the business editor at the New York Post for the past eight years, has left the newspaper for a job at public relations firm Sitrick & Co. in New York.
Sitrick specializes on crisis communication.
Wilner led a team that broke numerous stories in the media, retail, M&A and finance sectors and was recognized by the Associated Press for its business reporting. A series of reports on consolidation in the media world, the mortgage meltdown and the travails of the hedge fund industry drew particular attention.
Wilner has previously been the Sunday business editor at the Post, and he has been at the tabloid since 1996. He also worked as a reporter for Fairchild Publications for seven years.
Wilner is a 1982 graduate of Wagner College. He is also the former treasurer of the New York Financial Writers’ Association.
