NPR affiliate WFYI names Mahadevan its business/economy reporter

Priya Mahadevan

National Public Radio affiliate WFYI in Indianapolis has hired Pria Mahadevan as its business and economy reporter.

Mahadevan was previously a podcast news producer at Georgia Public Broadcasting’s podcasting division, where she helps put together original shows like “Georgia Today.” Prior to joining the podcasting team, she was a producer for “On Second Thought.”

She got her start in radio through KALW’s Audio Academy program in San Francisco

Mahadevan studied cognitive neuroscience and Spanish at Washington University in St. Louis, and later worked as a financial consultant in Boston and taught English at a university in Brazil on a Fulbright scholarship.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
