Business reporter Gareth McGrath of the Wilmington Star-News in North Carolina has been promoted to an editing position overseeing business coverage.
“Gareth’s team will include our primary business reporters — Wayne Faulkner, Judy Royal and Shannan Bowen. Most recently Gareth was a reporter on this team, covering environment and economy/industry. Gareth’s also covered growth and development, New Hanover County, Pender County and education.
“He will report to me, the metro editor. On a personal note, I’d like to point out that Gareth and I started at the StarNews as reporters just one month apart. We’ve worked closely over the years and I’m thrilled to have him become a member of the editing team. I have great respect for his reporting and sourcing ability and can’t wait to see how he shares those skills with other reporters.”
