sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:
I’m very pleased to announce a new leadership structure for Nextgov that elevates two highly talented people from within our own ranks.
Frank Konkel will become the new executive editor of Nextgov, setting the overall direction for the publication, overseeing the reporting staff to shape coverage, and working with the digital team on upgrades and innovations.
In his three years with us, Frank has reported and written hundreds of stories for Nextgov, from breaking news items to enterprise features. His work on the intelligence community’s shift to cloud computing and on finance issues at one of government’s cutting-edge IT units has been especially noteworthy. At the same time, as senior editor for technology and events, Frank has helped the events team develop innovative programs and recruit top-notch speakers. He has frequently served as the public face of Nextgov at these gatherings.
In addition to Frank’s promotion, Heather Kuldell is being elevated from news editor to managing editor of Nextgov. When Heather joined us last year, she made an immediate impact on our operations, and her influence has only grown. She is a savvy and smart editor, a highly skilled and efficient manager, and a very knowledgeable observer of the federal IT scene. Heather is more than ready to take on a prominent role in managing Nextgov’s day-to-day operations.
In Frank and Heather, we’re putting Nextgov in the hands of two people who know the publication inside and out, have unfailingly represented our values and have demonstrated consistent leadership ability. They will work together to lead the next stage in Nextgov’s evolution. As the publication celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, we are more committed than ever to its mission of leading the national discussion about how information technology innovation is transforming the way government agencies serve citizens and perform vital functions.
I couldn’t be happier that Frank and Heather have agreed to take on their new roles. Please join me in congratulating them.
