Newsday biz news leader McGough retires

Bob McGough

Bob McGough, the assistant managing editor of business at Newsday, has retired.

He joined the paper in September 2011.

McGough previously spent nearly two decades at Dow Jones, starting at The Wall Street Journal covering mutual funds and writing the “Heard on the Street column.” After that, he became deputy editor of health and science at the paper.

He joined Dow Jones Newswires in 2006, where he led financial services, personal finance and practice management reporting groups.

McGough, a Rice University graduate, also worked at Forbes magazine from 1981 to 1987 and Financial World from 1989 to 1992.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
