Hello Everyone,
I wanted to make you all aware of an exciting change that is happening within Technology, not only at Dow Jones but at News Corp.
First, as many of you may have heard, News Corp is creating a new business unit called NewsTech. Starting July 1st, this team will unify a selection of Technology Services from across the News Corp family of businesses, including Dow Jones, HarperCollins North America, News America Marketing, Realtor, the New York Post and News Corp, to create a single, world-class team.
The NewsTech team will be comprised of technology specialists from End User Services, Hardware Support (servers and storage), Network (voice and data) and Data Center. I am delighted to announce that Shaown Nandi has been selected by News Corp to lead NewsTech. He has the technical vision to take NewsTech forward, and create a culture that’s open and collaborative. Shaown will retain his responsibilities at Dow Jones and the functions within STS that are not moving to NewsTech, including Cloud, Infrastructure, EOC and Tooling.
Simon Clark will be joining the TLT to ensure the functions staying within Dow Jones have a continued focus. As my deputy, Andy Nichol will also work closer with the Dow Jones STS team to ensure they have the support they need to be successful. Shaown, Andy and I have also asked Dan Spira to take on a new role as product owner for Resiliency. He will help bring greater alignment between STS, Engineering and Product, driving the resiliency roadmap across all groups. Dan will also take an active role in the budget for the revised STS team.
I am really excited about this NewsTech team, as it will bring together a diverse collection of experts with a deep technical knowledge of their subject areas. Their focus will be on modernizing and upgrading technology across News Corp in a consistent manner, and delivering best-in-class technology to all employees.
I truly believe that these changes will give members of the NewsTech team better access to more diverse experiences and career opportunities.
Though our NewsTech colleagues may be moving on, they continue to be our friends and essential partners.
