The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle seeks a new business editor.
In an ad posted on LinkedIn, the paper says, the new business editor would “oversee news judgment decisions in business coverage, including business stories for DemocratandChronicle.com and Page 1A of the print edition. The Business Editor works with other editors on developing ideas for locally written stories, based on business issues, and digital offerings.
“The Business Editor also works on developing content for our innovation passion topic RochesterNext.com and the Sunday ROCNext print section. The right candidate helps track community outreach, holds brainstorming sessions, works with the Real-Time Desk to help the Information Center achieve its goals of community engagement and breaking news coverage across all platforms.”
The current business editor is Steve Sink, who has held that spot for the past six years. He is also a former business editor at Newsday and had been an assistant metro editor at the Democrat and Chronicle.
In an email to Talking Biz News, Sink writes, “I am retiring at the end of the year. Career included 12 years at The Miami Herald, 21 years at Newsday and the last 9 years at the Democrat and Chronicle. The D&C indeed is looking for a new business editor to replace me.”
The job ad can be found here.
In April, the paper unveiled a revamped Sunday business section that focuses on businesses during the recession and the recovery.
