Two staff writers at the Albuquerque Journal have taken on new roles as of late last month.
Stephen Hamway, who had been covering retail and real estate for the Journal, will now be reporting on economic development, health care and tourism in Albuquerque and across the state.
Pilar Martinez, who was writing about weekend breaking news since 2016, will now be covering the retail/real estate beat.
Hamway moved to Albuquerque from Bend, Oregon, last spring, where he spent four years covering business and environmental issues for the city’s daily newspaper. He received his master’s degree in mass communications from Arizona State University.
Whereas, Martinez was previously working for a media group in Washington, D.C., covering Congress. She completed a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of New Mexico.
