New Jersey paper cuts stock listings, Sunday business section

The Daily Record, a Gannett paper that serves Morristown and Parsippany in New Jersey, is cutting its daily stock listings and its Sunday business section, writes executive editor James Flachsenhaar.

Flachsenhaar wrote, “Yes, we know that any change frustrates some customers, and we regret that. On the other hand, we need to manage our resources so that our three news ‘platforms’ — the daily newspaper, dailyrecord.com and a growing array of specialty products — all survive and prosper.“Here’s what’s happening this week:

1. With most investors now going online to track their stocks, the daily stocks page and Sunday stock summary will be eliminated. You’ll be able to track your stocks at dailyrecord.com.

2. The Sunday business section — predominantly nonlocal content — will be eliminated. A business story focusing on Morris County will continue as part of the local news report.”
