Bob Shallit, the business columnist for the Sacramento Bee, has an item about the new editor of Prosper magazine, Jeffrey Young, and what his plans are for the two-year-old business monthly in his most-recent column.
Shallit wrote, “New editorial chief Jeffrey Young, 54, wrote for Forbes, co-founded MacWorld Magazine and co-authored the book ‘iCon: Steve Jobs, The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business.‘
“The bio earned great reviews — except from Jobs, who banned from Apple stores all books by Young’s publisher, Wiley.
“That reaction ‘completely backfired,’ according to Young, who says the resulting publicity helped turn the book into an international best-seller.
“In his new job, Young is not real worried about missing any Apple scoops. Prosper isn’t a tech magazine. In fact, it’s moving away from its roots as a business publication.
“What will it be? A magazine — with related multimedia ventures — that helps people achieve prosperity in more than material terms, Young says.
“‘It’s about working smart, living well and giving back,’ he says.”
